Timber Lakes has roughly 1,500 one-acre lots and about 1,000 dwellings, ranging from weekend A-frames to large year-round builds. Most sit directly against undisturbed oak brush, aspen, and fir, which means the pest pressure is wildland pressure: deer mice testing every gap in a foundation each fall, voles tunneling under the snowpack all winter, and paper wasps and yellowjackets nesting in eaves, decks, and wood piles all summer.
Seasonal cabins carry the highest risk. A cabin that sits closed from October to May is an undisturbed nesting site — by spring, mouse droppings in a kitchen drawer are the single most common call we get from the upper roads. Our Timber Lakes plans lean hard on exclusion (sealing entry points a quarter-inch and larger) and monitored bait stations, so problems are stopped at the shell of the building instead of inside it.
